Women and Chocolate, and Men, and.... Fiber?

This post goes back to one of the first weeks of class.  I remember a Sarah Haskins video that was shown in class that made funny claims about how media and advertising is obsessed with showing women and chocolate.  Building off of that, I have attached a video below that made me laugh.  It is a thirty second Fiber One ad, which features a "poor, lonely woman" eating salad hopelessly, while she watches a youthful, happy couple eating and feeding one another brownies in a diner.  It gets better, as a handsome man appears from thin air, ready with brownies in hand, to fulfill all of her deepest "desires."

The real question is, "What are a woman's desires?"  I'm being totally facetious, but it appears that women are waiting for a good looking man, in a white t-shirt (lame), bearing low-calorie brownie goodness, hence, a better life.  I think the more disturbing part about this commercial is that they have worked the need for fiber and regularity with the "needs" of finding a man, and let's not forget--CHOCOLATE!  Yes! Everyone wants and needs chocolate (especially single women) in or around their mouth at any given time.  While these stereotypes are not as influential as some of the others we have discussed in class, it is easily recognizable and ridiculous.  Enjoy the video.
