We are a Nation of Teenage Boys
This class really makes me hate myself sometimes.
Today we talked about Princess Culture and it truly opened my eyes to how much we judge people (especially women) on their appearance. And by we, I mean me.
We are constantly judging on appearance and consumed by how we look. Although, I like to think that I am not one of those girls who dress to impress guys, to some degree, I am. The class discussion made me realize that I put so much time and effort into trying to impress people by how I look. It also made me realize that there are girls who only have their looks to offer, because they put so much effort into what they look like, that they don't work on their inside. It made me sad for these girls and for girls growing up in this judgmental world. There's so much to offer besides your physical appearance.
Don't get me wrong, it's great to look good, but there are things that are MUCH more important. You were born with your looks, you actually have to work to be a good person. We shouldn't be so obsessed with how we look. We should be obsessed with how we act. We have to stop trying to impress others and instead impress ourselves.
This world is backwards. Let's be cliché and look on the inside instead of the outside.
