Instagross

I love to do many things, and at the top of that list is taking pictures.  I’m no professional photographer, but I do enjoy it and take quite a lot of them. I like taking pictures of EVERYTHING- my friends, my family, my food, my surroundings, and myself.

For some reason I feel like I HAVE to put up all my pictures on Instagram.  Apparently I want people to see the food I’m eating and how much fun I’m having.  But then after our class discussion on social media, I realized how much fun I COULD be having if I would stop worrying about how I looked on Instagram and if I would get off my phone!

“We take 30 different pictures to try and get “the one” picture that looks good.  Then we put it on Instagram to make it look better and then judge our self worth on how many likes we get.” –Kristen McCauliff

When she said this, I realized I was whom she was talking about, and I wanted to punch myself in the face.  I do not want to be one of those girls and I totally am!

It’s almost like we have to take pictures of everything we do, or it didn’t happen.

We stage pictures.  We act way cooler than we actually are.  We try to construct ourselves in a way that people will like.  It’s so annoying to me, because it’s so true.

I want to start a rebellion.  A rebellion where we actually interact with the people we are physically with, instead of trying to impress all of the people we’re not with.
