Gaming & it's effect on society.
I am a very open minded person, however the discussion and article about gaming sort of gets under my skin. As Americans, we have become so spoiled with all the technology we have that we are too consumed with playing these "games," and are completely taking for granted what we are blessed with. Several countries worldwide do not even have the proper necessities to live, let alone a computer game for pure pleasure because honestly that is what it is. This topic hits home hard for me and I do not really see the benefit in video games at all, period. To think that millions of Americans, adults and children, are partaking in these games really caters to the title that other countries give Americans "The Lazy American." Why not go against that title instead of catering to it? I realize that gamers will probably be offended by my blog or disagree 100% with all that I am saying because to them that is their passion, mine is just exactly the opposite. Being an Interpersonal Communications major has truly taught me that interpersonal skills are crucial in the business world and in the social world as well. These social, interpersonal skills go in a different route than video games and is my passion for the world. I want to change the real world for the better, not just the virtual world. Don't get me wrong, if technology is used in proper ways it is one of the most beneficial tools in the business and social world, it is just when it is used for strictly pleasure and consumes practical everything someone does, does my view previously stated stand true to me.
