A New Light On Food Production

After watching the video in class, Food Inc., my eyes have really been open to the possibility of eating more organic foods. I feel like being able to sink my teeth into a fully natural burger would be the most amazing taste ever. Unfortunately at this time, living on campus and having a limited income makes it hard for me to implement this change right away. I have a feeling that this is the case for many people that learn about what is being done to the food that they are eating. We need to find a way to get organic foods in higher demand, that way they are more readily accessible in places like schools and grocery markets. If I were to go to one of the dinning halls, and have a choice between something that was organic and something that was processed I would choose the organic hands down. However, this choice is not available to us. I believe that this is the primary reason there isn't as big of a change in the food we eat as there could be. We want these products that are better for us but in order to get them we have to travel several miles just to find them. This takes away from time that we could be spending on who knows what, and we would rather not bother with that. Bringing organic into grocery stores like Walmart is definitely a step towards spreading organic habits. This allows us to see the organic choices among the other foods that we are already buying. Hopefully that once the knowledge about what is happening to our food is more well known, we will all switch to organic.
