video games helping with reality?

I posted before explaining how I was never really a gamer. However today's discussion I felt, was very interesting. I don't weigh heavily on either side of the spectrum when it comes to agreeing or disagreeing with the TED talk we viewed today. However, maybe if all the games were about reality and helping out in a crisis situation, we could better understand the world and how it works. But as someone stated today in class, things could go terribly wrong if put in the wrong hands. I'm not entirely sure what the name of this game is called but you drive around in a car of your choice and you can run over people and trash cans and outrun the police, how is that supposed to help society and its problems?  I feel this situation could go either way, but I'm still a part of the out-group.

persuade me?
