The Power of Video Games

I believe the side effects of children playing video games growing up can be both good and bad. Growing up, I never really played any shooting games. I always stuck to sports games. Playing these games growing up has turned me into a walking ESPN.

From playing college football and basketball games when I was a kid, I now know 99 percent of all nicknames for colleges in division one. By playing Madden, I now know the details of NFL offensive and defensive schemes. It directly translates to real life. Even though I only played 2 years of youth football, I know as much about the X’s and O’s as someone who played for 12 years. So if you say a kid playing a violent video game growing up might turn into a killer, then what if they are playing Madden instead? Could a kid turn into the next best NFL head coach of all time? I say yes. I think the kids who end up becoming violent are just crazy on their own.

A video game didn’t disconnect the fact from their conscience that they hurt another human. People aren’t stupid, I feel like they use the fact that a kid played violent video games growing up as an excuse. Video games for sure help kids learn things. It’s up to their parents to control what they play. If you don’t want your kid to become a freak then don’t let him play gory games made for adults. Switch it to Madden and watch him become the next Mike Ditka.
