I'll start off by saying I really enjoyed the class discussion we had on Tuesday. I thought there were some valid points brought up and everyone was engaged. I didn't speak much but its mainly because I didn't want to get to heated about the subject.
I 100% disagree with the article we read for class Tuesday. There is and never will be a game that will be help solve the worlds problems. You want to know why? Because we live in a society of people with short attention spans and people who are only looking to play video games that they found entertaining and FUN. The video games she has in mind sound like a great idea but it just can't become a reality. I know myself personally if someone found a way to make solving the water crisis fun and engaging i'd probably try it out. But the chances of that happening are extremely slim.
Another thing that is getting overlooked in those whole argument is the fact that the whole time these people are playing video games and "solving problems"they're eating mcdonalds, taco bell, and other fast food restaurants they are getting bigger and fatter and becoming more obese. Thats the major downside to video games. There is no actual healthy excercise being displayed. And obesity is becoming more and more of a problem in our country because of cheap and easily accesible food. So it's great that the author wants people to try and fix these world problems but at the same time we're just getting fatter and sloppier making our obese problem even worse in this country. So do I think it would be great if she could some how make this happen, sure. But it will never work and it will just make the obese problem even worse.
