Hipsters are currently overtaking the young population.
Everyone knows when they see one. An over-sized flannel shirt, a stocking cap
when its 70 degrees outside, large glasses. You either love them or you
hate them, and it’s all in the matter of how you look at it. People dislike
hipsters for one reason; they come off as if they’re trying too hard. We
discussed that everyone who is a hipster is trying to be different, but they
all just come off as the same. Most are on a never ending quest to finally
become unique. But what I want to know is when they finally become unique, will
they still be a hipster?
Hipsters pride themselves on being one of a kind and
standing out. The funny thing about this is the definition of hipster is “one
who follows the latest trends and fashions.”
While most think they are standing out what they really are doing is
just blending in. I find it funny that people have this mission to be so
different that everyone thinks they’re “cool.” Some of my friends have recently
attempted to jump on this bandwagon of being different and it becomes pretty
entertaining at times. Some days I will receive calls or photo messages of new
outfits. The text always reads, “Do I look Hipster enough?” What kind of
question is that? People are trying too hard, and that’s basically what it
boils down too. If you are spending six hours in Good Will to find the perfect
pair of ugly jeans and used sweater, you may need hipster rehab.
