Is the food that we are buying what we really think it is?
The topic about food has been of controversy in the states lately. The video Food Inc., showed us students what exactly is going on in those factories behind closed doors. But is there more we are not informed on? I believe so. Right now in society there is controversy going on with the bill that was just passed stating that manufacturers will be allowed to continue producing genetically modified foods. My question is why? Why is this okay? Companies like Monsanto are getting away with selling Americans cheap, genetically modified foods, in which, are linked to cancers, diseases and younger life spans. Why aren't Americans rioting against this? I don't understand how we can go by each and everyday KNOWING that we are consuming foods that will probably lead to our death sentences. These genetically modified foods have no nutrients in them, which also cause obesity because it does not "fill" us up and we are always hungry. If you couldn't tell, I am pretty passionate about this topic and I support those farmers who produce organic, natural foods because isn't that what our bodies need any ways? We are wired to eat healthy, natural foods. It is our responsibility to stop these companies from selling us these "fake" foods.
