Facebook causing me to be lonely?

When I am on Facebook, primarily it is to see how my brother or close relatives are doing. The social media site I happen to use the most is Twitter. At the beginning Facebook was, to me, an arms race on who had the better life. Who had the most fun, more friends, was better looking ... etc. You all know what I am talking about. Girl's cropping their pictures right below the bust so you can't see your tummy, or guys holding beers in their hands when they haven't ever taken a drink in their life. It is all a show. Facebook used to be the thing that kept my mind busy, or distracted me from more important things. Facebook, to me is slowly becoming the old Myspace. Now that my parents have a Facebook, I very frequently get calls or texts that say "Aubrey did you see what Patty posted on her Facebook.... blah blah." I feel if Facebook is making anyone lonely, it's the elders. I feel this way simply because the elders are trying to keep up with the new technology and "hip" new social media because they don't quite get the works.
