Just because you play a violent video game does not mean you will become a murderer or commit other crimes. Statistics actually show that people that play violent video are less violent then they used to be in recent years. If violent video games somehow translated into more
deadly gun-related behavior you would expect the United States – which
has far and away the highest levels of gun-related murders per capita (according to CNN) –
to be the biggest spender on such games. But this is not the case. In
fact, according to the Post’s figures, U.S. spending per capita
is ahead of only China. The Netherlands and South Korea spend more than
twice as much per capita on video games, yet gun murder rates in these
two countries are far lower than those in the United States. Japan,
which has some of the most graphically violent games and animation in
the world, has violent crime rates that are a fraction of those in the
United States.
I like the idea of the military using video games like Call of Duty to train members of the military. It is a great way to practice strategies without actually going into battle. The military also has online simulators to go through missions and training techniques. Some of the weapons that the military has like rocket launchers are very expensive and the simulators can be used to train them so that the rocket launchers can be just for battle. The British also use simulators and video games to train their military.
