Thrift Shop

Hipsters were a new word or group which I found out about in class.  I always referred to these type of people as the game changers or cooler than the other side of the pillow. The cool people or hipsters live on the edge and do not seem to care about what is going on.  These types of individuals do what they want to, when they want to, and are not conformed by other’s perceptions of them.  In a sense they are the bad asses of society and the people who you instantly knew they were cool.

I relate these types of individuals to skaters or punks in my life.  I notice they don’t care what people think of them and they live the motto of “you do you”.  Walking past them in a hallway or on the street I gain uncertainty and feel that I am a loser and not as cool as them.  These hipsters have everything they need in life: cool friends, the style of their clothes, and of course the girls.  These guys live a different life from everyone else, in a different form and they know it which stands out to me as the coolest idea about them.

Another trait these individuals have is they can turn anything whether that is an object or an idea and make popularity out of it.  Take the music video of Thrift Shop for example, all the guys in the music video take simple and out of date objects and turn them into something useful and cool.  Thus, they start a trend and others catch on and do the trend till that gets old again and is out of date. Thanks to hipsters and what they bring to our world today, we have much of the cool objects and ideas in our culture.
